G4 Technical Resources
Motorola's AltiVec Technology, embodied in the G4 processor, expands the
current PowerPC architecture through the addition of a 128-bit vector
execution unit, which operates concurrently with existing integer and
floating-point units. Apple has recently posted a variety of technical
resources to its G4 web site to help you accelerate your own applications.
Developers with qualifying software products can use the "Accelerated for G4
with Velocity Engine" promotional graphic logo on qualifying software
packages, in advertising and marketing communications, and as a badge on web
sites to promote increased performance. [October 27]
