Manufacturing Advantage Tips - Pentium® III Processor

Universal Retention Mechanism (URM) - Intel® Celeron™ Processor® (SEPP) Insertion & Removal

Installation
Step 1
Gently place the processor with heatsink attached into the retention mechanism slot, so that the substrate aligns with connector.
Step 1
Step 2
While keeping the processor edge fingers parallel to the connector, slide the processor package into the retention mechanism until it makes contact with the connector.

Step 3
Align the substrate key feature with the connector key feature.
Step 3
Caution
Make sure to keep the processor parallel to the motherboard during installation. Misalignment of the substrate key and connector key will occur if this is not done.

  • Once the slot/key alignment is achieved, press firmly until the processor with heatsink is fully seated.
  • Customers may want to wear gloves to protect their hands from SEPP sharp edges..
Step 4

Note: You will see the T-bar lock into the slots on the ends of the heatsink when the SEPP/heatsink assembly is fully engaged. T-bar Lock
Removal
Step 1
  • Push one of the URM pieces away from you while pulling the heatsink/SEPP towards you.
  • Disengage the T-bar from the heatsink.
Step 1
Step 2
Firmly pull the far end of heatsink/ SEPP from the connector until the package is fully disengaged.
Step 2
Step 3
Lift the SEPP/heatsink attachment until clear of both retention mechanisms.
