I agree that maybe too much Star Wars is not a good thing. But I still can't figure why a poorer quality VHS format gets the nod over DVD. George isn't bending over backwards for VHS.
I don't care much for the extras (exept for the deleted scenes which VHS will have). Like most people I know, I will wait for the DVD version to come out. I have stopped buy VHS tapes and for a good reason. The SW:Special Edition video tapes were of poor construction and after 4 viewings the tapes are having problems. I get tears in my eyes every time I watch Star Wars and the video isn't close to perfect and the sound shuffles in and out of HI-FI. Only 6 more years...

i will be worth the wait to get all six episodes at once. everyone needs to keep their pants on. and btw, your article was great except for the part where you exploited the Savior. where's the need for that?

Amen! I totally agree with your view on the whole Star Wars thing. They may be good movies, but get over it. I am tired of seeing people get off on all the hype then get pissed when they don't get exactly what they want. Just wait, have a little patience, and the excellence of George Lucas's work will come to pass, and everyone will be happy. Have a good day, and shut the hell up about for now.

Star Wars and DVD, Part IV
Finally, someone else who's not all pissed off about the lack of Star Wars on
DVD. I was begining to think I was alone. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge
Star Wars fan (I'll take any challengers to a match of the trivial pursuit
game) but enough is enough people. Sure it'd be nice to have a crisp picture
and clear sound but one of the main reasons I got a DVD player in the first
place was for the extras. I would much rather wait for a fully loaded box
set with all the trimmings (how about an option to view with or without
special edition editing!) than waste my hard earned cash on a rushed,
inferior product now just to replace it later when the real thing comes out.
I haven't thrown away my VCR just yet so for now I have my S.E. VHS box set
and Episode I to look forward to in the more near future.

i agree with you man. if lucas doesn't want to release them on dvd than
screw him. i ain't going to write him a letter and beg his ass to make star
wars on dvd. i can wait. i have pride and i ain't begging no bitch who
doesn't have the time for his fans needs.

I too am a Star Wars adict. I have my own classic Millenium falcon toy.
Paraphanelia litters my room and I have my ships hanging from my ceiling. I
went to the convention in Colorado and waited all day in line for the
premiere of Episode 1, in a Jedi costume. I liked it too. Just so you know
where I'm comin from. I agree with you totally. I want the films coming
out on DVD more than most people, probably, but I want them to be the best
they can be. If that means waiting five or six more years then I'm down
with that. Do all these people wanna give Lucas a heart attack or
something? The man can only do so much at a time. Don't stress the guy.
All those people with those petitions will be singing a different song if he
keels over before the last film comes out. Give it time. Quality is way
better than timing.

I think that lucas should at least let a basic dvd package go, with out all the extras, just the movie and original theatrical release on it. I and a great deal of other people would buy it, That would momentarily satisfy all of us until he can sit down and put all those extras onto his personaly supervised special edition set. I know alot of older people who don't care about extras but just like to enjoy the movie with great sound and thats it nothing else that would be more than happy with a plain jane title of star wars. and where the hell is the indie trilogy? whats his excuse with those?
I knew everybody wouldn't agree with me for long.
