If you are facing an advanced illness, I welcome you to this information site. Please keep in mind that you will benefit from looking at your situation in as calm and rational a manner as possible. Gather all of the available information about your condition and then plan to make your own medical, psychological and spiritual choices. Use this site as one of your informational tools. Stay in charge of your own life and make your own decisions in partnership with your family, your other loved ones and your doctors.
The initially shocking and numbing news about your advanced illness will lessen with time. Your moods and perspective will change over the following days, weeks and months. Try to remain as positive as you can.
Most of all, treat yourself gently and go slowly with your decisions. There will be plenty of time for anger and joy, sadness and celebration. Even if it doesn't make sense now, trust for a moment, that everything will be fine. Along with your medical team, friends, and family, the FairCare tools are available to you as you face your practical and personal issues in living.
Respectfully Yours,
 Daniel R. Tobin, M.D. |
