Nato 3 - To be or not to be?

Details:

Topic: Nato 3 - To be or not to be?
Interview with:
Brownfoot from ARMM. Creator of the InstallShield installer, NATO 2 options application, sounds, bitmaps, selective fire, website and put NATO 2 together. Geez he did loads!!

Do you plan to develop a new Nato 3 MOD or some sort of sequel to Nato 2 with the release of Rogue Spear just over the horizon?

We will almost certainly will release some sort of MOD for Rogue Spear. We're not sure what it will be at this point. We'll have to get the game first.

Is ARMM going to keep to the Nato theme or will you go for a change and switch to something else - Star Trek and phasers??!!

I'm sure we'll stick with the realistic theme, at least the first time out. That's where our expertise is. I've always wanted to do a futuristic version but never got the energy.

What type of new weapons and/or features do you have in your current ideas? Will there be any new unique weapons that do not just fire bullets - any ideas for rocket launchers and things like trip mines even?

If the game allows us to do some weapons other than bullets I'm sure we'll put some interesting stuff in. Rumor was that there was a grenade launcher. Sounds like a good anti-camper weapon to me.

With so many weapons already out in Nato 2 will you be concentrating more on developing multiplayer map and missions mods to take advantage of Rogue Spear's new environments? Staying along those lines, Rogue Spear has a lot of new things to offer. At this moment of time what ideas have you got to take advantage of Rogue Spear's new features?

Right now we're just coming up with a list of possible new weapons to put in the game. Other than that we'll have to see what the guys/gals at RS have got cooking.

Selective fire has got to be one of the best and most unique features of your MODs, will it will be updated with new features such as being able to view an image of the weapon selected?

I'm really proud of Selective Fire. I think the new game has incorporated better weapon selection ideas so SF may not be needed in the future, we'll see. I also might do some other helper apps. We might need some development tools for NATO 3 like a weapon creator so I might do something like that and release it publically. If RS would give out the .rsb file format or a .dll to allow me to use the pics in SF, I'll add a pic viewer. It would have saved me a LOT of time on NATO 2!

It's early to ask and I probably already know the answer but...have you got a planned release date as yet for a new MOD or do we have do sit in anticipation as you work away at its development?

Sometime after Rogue Spear ships and "when it's done"! Hehehe, I feel like John Romero. OK, maybe not.

Thanks to Brownfoot for agreeing to and carrying out the interview
