Opensource.lineo.com Projects List
All of the following projects are either being maintained by Lineo employees, or have Lineo employees as significant core project developers. Most of these are being directly supported by Lineo -- i.e. Lineo employees are being paid to work on them. Many of us also spend our evenings and weekends working on these and other Open Source projects.- BusyBox
combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small
executable. It provides minimalist replacements for most of the utilities
you usually find in fileutils, shellutils, etc. BusyBox provides a fairly
complete POSIX environment for any small or embedded system.
- TinyLogin
is an embedded tool for handling authentication, changing passwords,
and similar tasks, and which nicely complements BusyBox.
- uCLibc
is a C library for embedded systems. You can actually statically link a "Hello World"
application under x86 that only takes 4k (as opposed to 200k under GNU libc). Some features are still a work
in progress, but for many things, this is a very sensible choice.
- uClinux
The Linux/Micro-controller project is a port of Linux 2.0 to systems without a Memory Management Unit (MMU), such as the the 3Com PalmPilot. This embedded Linux distribution is currently running many commercial applications such as the NETtel VPN routers and the Aplio/Phone. - PoPToP
is a Microsoft-compatible Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution for Linux,
which allows Linux to function seamlessly in a Microsoft PPTP VPN
environment.
- ThinLinux
is an embedded Linux distribution that contains a minimal system (just
enough to get it to boot), and has additional packages that allow you to
hand pick the features you deploy in your production system.
- RTAI
the Linux Real Time Application Interface provides hard real-time capabilities
for Linux. Here is information for many features including: POSIX, RTnet, Common
API, AtomicRTAI, LXRT, and more.

The CueCat project
The CueCat project is a concerted effort to support and make use of the
:Cue:C.A.T.[tm] barcode reader under the Linux operating system. The
:Cue:C.A.T.[tm] is manufactured by
DigitalConvergence Corp. and is distributed for free
here, by
RadioShack and by other partners
of DigitalConvergence.
