REVIEW: I think I'm reading Mark Schultz's take on the "Mary Jane is missing" fiasco. If you've been keeping up with Kal-El, his wife for the last few months is actually the energy-sucking Parasite (ewww!) and somehow he's had kryptonite introduced to his bloodstream (double ewww!). And now, he's green and pukin' around, looking for his missing wife.
And like Spider-Man, Superman's search makes little sense. Sure, Luthor's a good choice whenever anything goes wrong in his life, but the Bald One doesn't know Superman's secret identity and has no reason to be going after Lois Lane. So why do I want to spend a whole issue watching a sick Kryptonian invade Luthor's skyscraper? Must be because I'm a sadist.
Schultz's writing is good, but the story isn't. I will say, though, I'm looking forward to next issue.

REVIEW: I'm totally surprised the Kryptonians aren't still around. I mean, if Superman can come back from the dead and the Fortress of Solitude can get rebuilt even after getting totally vaporized, one measly planetary destruction should've been a minor inconvenience. What is this, the Marvel Universe?
Anyhoo, getting back to the actual comic, Steel and Supes get together to rebuild the Fortress of Solitude out of astral memory and lots of rocks inside a tesseract. Sorry to kvetch, but a tesseract is a four dimensional cube, and looks nothing like a glowing sphere. So they start rebuilding, and inevitably, the supervillains want some of that fine Kryptonian technology and the Cybermoths attempt to steal it, bringing back the Cyborg yet again to distract Kal-El. I hate that Cyborg almost worse than I hate Venom -- he's one of those irritating villains that keeps coming back for absolutely no reason. Anyway, after a long series of deux ex machinas, Superman's fortress gets rebuilt and all is well except for Superman's cough.
It's not bad, but the writing is poor and arbitrary. Mark Schultz should ask Jurgens for tips.
