For Microsoft to deliver the highest quality of support possible, it is sometimes necessary to expire support for discontinued products and apply those resources to the support of the latest developments and technologies that Microsoft has to offer. Please see the Support Obsolescence Policy page.

RETAIL PRODUCTS
Retail versions of Microsoft products are those stand alone packaged products purchased at retail stores or mail order resellers. Microsoft products preinstalled or distributed with your personal computer, dedicated system (Windows CE-based device), or provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or purchased through a volume licensing program such as Select, Open, or License Packs receive all Microsoft support privileges, EXCLUDING no-charge assisted support.

OEM SOFTWARE
If your Microsoft product was preinstalled or distributed with your personal computer, dedicated system (Windows CE-based device), or provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and your Product ID (PID) contains the letters "OEM" after the first 5 digits, you are welcome to use the many online no-charge self-help or paid assisted support offerings provided by Microsoft. No-charge assisted support for OEM licenses is not provided by Microsoft. Please contact the personal computer manufacturer, the device/system manufacturer, or ISP directly for more information regarding their no-charge and paid offerings for support of your product. Please check the documentation that came with your personal computer or check our list of manufacturer phone numbers at http://support.microsoft.com/support/webresponse/pid/oem.asp

SUPPORT INCIDENT
An incident is a problem that cannot be broken down into subordinate problems. For a request with subordinate problems, each problem is considered a separate incident, and therefore must be submitted as a separate support request.

Before support is provided, you and your designated Microsoft Product Support Engineer must agree upon the scope of the problem and the parameters for an acceptable resolution. An incident may require multiple interactions and off-line research to resolve it. Please note that an incident involving a Microsoft product bug will not be applied against your account.

Product Support Services are subject to Microsoft's then-current prices, term, and conditions, which are subject to change without notice.

* The support options described herein are available for Microsoft products acquired in the United States only. The services and prices listed here are available in the United States only. Services and prices outside the US may vary. For support offerings outside the United States, contact the local Microsoft subsidiary in your area.
