Your friendly Virus is back! Posted by DarkVirus - Wednesday, April 5 6:28 AM EDT Hey, I was checking around for news lately and there hasn't been much good news so i decided to get some answers from Aaron Cohen. I tried to keep them fresh but well... I tried :-)
Darkvirus: Any more word from westwood about the possibilities on a movie release? Aaron: Not at this time. Darkvirus: Have you checked out the petition to persuade Westwood a little more for the movie Aaron: I haven't seen that one. I'm happy to hear people are interested in a C&C movie though. Darkvirus: Are there any current plans or thoughts about a new expansion pack for TS? Aaron: Firestorm will probably be the last one, but you never know. It is selling really well. Darkvirus:Whats the release date for Renegade looking like? still september? (NOTE: OK so I assumed it was September) Aaron: Did we say September at some point? We'll try and keep it a broader "this year" until we have a few more things firmed up. Look for a lot more info after E3.
Darkvirus: I really didn't want to bring this in but what are your thoughts on Red Alert 2 or Soviet Invasion as some people have been calling it? Aaron: Rumors are rumors. Darkvirus: What's it like working for Westwood does it ever get boring or is it an exciting day every day?
Aaron:There are a lot of ups and downs, like any job. This is the most exciting job I've ever had, and the most stressful. I've had some great great days and there have been some fairly painful lows. In all, it's the best job I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. More than that, there's a lot of loyalty to Westwood, among all the employees. There's a feeling of we're all in this together. I haven't seen that since I worked for a small weekly newspaper.
There you have it and remember webmasters please only use 2 questions then link back to us, why do I figure they will use question number 6.
Dawg Pound Back Up Posted by Shinano - Monday, April 3 6:18 PM EDT The Dawg Pound is back after a short hiatus, so go check them out. After all, they have the Official Westwood Poll going on over there, which is a pretty cool idea on WW's part. Dawg informs me that you can also see the stats after you vote, so get moving.
New Interview Posted by Shinano - Monday, April 3 5:52 PM EDT I have returned! Did you think I had died? Did you even care :)? Well, no matter, on to the interview with Rade. Cncx.de were kind enough to give BGTS an english copy of their interview, and I'm kind enough to borrow a couple of questions off BGTS:
?: In the last few weeks almost the whole community talks about the registered Domains from Westwood like redalert2.com etc. Can you tell us if Westwood is working on redalert2? If so, are there any details ? Aaron: We register a lot of domains. Don't read too much into it.
?: On which part of Renagade are you working at the moment ? Aaron: Just about every part is under construction.
Oh yea, I register domains just for kicks all the time Aaron :) Head on over to BGTS for the rest.
DP Down Posted by TheShadow - Sunday, April 2 1:58 PM EDT The Dawg Pound is down at the moment, but should be back up by Monday. Just to let you know the poll will continue then according to Dawg, as I'm sure some of you will ask "How are we supposed to vote when it's down" :)
TSD Returns Posted by TheShadow - Sunday, April 2 4:24 AM EDT Yes that's right, Tiberian Sun Domination is back after a short period of time. After RSN, their hosts, shut down TSD was left without a host, but now they are hosted by PlanetCnC. Don't forget to update your bookmarks to the new url, http://www.planetcnc.com/tsd/. Cyclone also informs me that they are in need of news updaters, so go give them a visit :)
Firestorm TS Editors Posted by Kosh - Saturday, April 1 8:23 PM EST Well, it seems like waiting for Firestorm Editors is like waiting for a bus. None come for ages and then two come at once. First off the blocks was TibEd. This adds support for Firestorm and fixes a few bugs
However, most importantly, SunEdit 2K has been updated to not only support Firestorm, but also adds the mod maker wizard. This wizard allows you to create your own Mix files via an easy to use interface. Add to that ZIP and self extracting Zip support for your mod and it's a winner!!

Offical Westwood Poll Posted by Chris - Friday, March 31 8:41 PM EST Over at the Dawg Pound they are hosting a official fan poll for Westwood regarding TS & Firestorm. Well, this is a very good indication of Westwood's continual fan involvement with their games! The question is "Do you think the Mammoth Mk.II is useful?", so If you've got an opinion head over to the Pound and you could win some cool Westwood prizes, including a copy of Firestorm!
SHP Converter Released Posted by Kosh - Friday, March 31 12:53 PM EST The new version of the popular TS editing utility XCC Mixer has been released. This new version supports making new Building and Vehicle SHP files, so talented mod makers will be able to make new units. Thanks to BG:TS for the news.
Although, the XCC site seems to be down currently. I also hear that Steve Childs will be implementing a SHP converter & viewer within SunEdit 2K shortly, after he's released the next version (adding the Mod Maker & support for Firestorm). This should be released within the next day or two.
Red Alert 2 Posted by Kosh - Thursday, March 30 3:06 PM EST It seems like there maybe be some substance to the rumours about Red Alert Two. Over at BG:TS, they say that Westwood had purchased "SovietInvasion.com" & "SovietInvasion.net". This maybe a hint at Red Alert 2's title. On another site (if this was your site, drop me a line and I'll credit you), they went one step further and quoted a "Westwood Official" (I always take things like this with a pinch of salt.) The Westwood Official (who, naturally didn't want to be identified) said that Red Alert 2 would be shown behind closed doors at this year's E3 show.
I think this is unlikely, someone who is very likely to be involved in RA2 isn't going to E3 this year, I can't say who, let's just say he's an important figure at WW.
I am alive, I think Posted by Ultimatum - Wednesday, March 29 6:22 PM EST Just verifiying that I am still alive, and that I am switching from Updating to Content. With my workload growing (no fault of my own, of course :), updating daily is becoming harder and harder. So I am now officially Downloads Manager.
