IBM HTTP Server V1.3.6.2 for AIX, Solaris, Windows NT and Linux
IBM HTTP Server V1.3.6.2 powered by Apache is now available for download. IBM HTTP Server V1.3.6.2 works with WebSphere Application Server V3.02. This complimentary download is fully functional and is not time-disabled. See the readme for the most up-to-date installation instructions and product information.

IBM HTTP Server includes support for SSL with either with 56- or 128-bit encryption. A different download is available for each encryption level. Note that U.S. Export Regulations restrict the distribution of encrypted code. Consequently, your attempt to download might be rejected due to tests associated with these restrictions.

To get IBM HTTP Server V1.3.6.2:

1. Ensure that your system meets these requirements:
   • NT 4.0 with service pack 3
   • AIX 4.2.1 with xlC.rte 3.1.4.8 or higher
   • Solaris 2.6 (Sparc, not Intel)
   • Linux: Caldera 2.2, Red Hat 5.2 or 6.0, SuSE 6.0 or 6.1, or Turbolinux 3.0.1

   AIX users: a link to the xlC fix is provided on the download site for those whose AIX systems do not have the proper level of xlC requirement. (If the AIX system does not have xlC.rte 3.1.4.8 or above, the security code won't install and SSL won't be available.)

2. Download the complimentary code. You will need to register for the Download Zone, if you haven't already done so. Enter your Download Zone user ID and password in response to any browser authorization challenges.

To install the IBM HTTP Server, follow the instructions below for your platform.

Windows NT:

1. Uninstall any previous versions of the IBM HTTP Server by clicking Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
2. Log on to the system with a valid Windows NT user ID and password. The ID must be a member of the local Administrators group.
3. At the command prompt for the directory that contains downloaded executable, run the executable and follow the prompts to install IBM HTTP Server.

AIX:

1. Prerequisites: AIX 4.2.1 with xlC.rte 3.1.4.8, or higher
2. Become Superuser
3. Use uncompress then tar to extract the packages from the downloaded file
4. Use smit to install the packages

Sun Solaris:

1. Prerequisites: Solaris 2.6 for Sparc (not Intel)
2. Become Superuser and change to the directory containing the file you downloaded
3. Type "uncompress ./filename" where filename is the .Z file you downloaded
4. Type "tar -xvf ./filename" to untar the packages. filename is the name of the file you downloaded minus the .Z suffix. The file will be extracted to a directory named spool in the current directory
5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for each file that you downloaded (except ldap.client_rte.pkg.tar, which only requires step 4)
6. Change to the spool directory and type "pkgadd -d." (note the period after the d) and follow the prompts to install the packages

Linux:

1. Become Superuser
2. Execute:
   
   rpm -ivh IBM_HTTP_Server-1.3.6-3.i386.rpm
   
   
3. Exit from Superuser account
4. Verify a successful HTTP Server installation by running:
   
   /opt/IBMHTTPServer/bin/apachectl start

   If no errors are present on the command line or in /opt/IBMHTTPServer/logs/error_log, visit the new HTTP server's home page. If you get a page that says "It Worked!", the Apache webserver is still running and the error_log file should contain the message "Error could not bind to Port 80."

IBM HTTP Server V1.3.3.3 for AIX, Sun Solaris, and Windows NT

• OS/390 includes IBM HTTP Server as a feature. The HTTP Server is the Web server component of WebSphere Application Server for OS/390.
• OS/400 includes IBM HTTP Server as a feature.
