Finding Old Articles
There are several ways to find articles that appeared in previous editions of The Arizona Republic.
Search our online archive
Our online archive dates back to 1987 and include most of the content printed in The Arizona Republic, the (now defunct) Phoenix Gazette and the Arizona Business Gazette. Searching the archive is free, but accessing the full text of any article costs $2.
Use our free 7-day online archive
Find stories that appeared in the print edition of The Arizona Republic within the past week only. In most cases only stories written by Republic staff, and which appeared in the Front, Valley & State, Sports, Business & Money and Smart Living sections, can be found here.

If you cannot find what you are looking for in the archive, or if you would like someone else to search for you, you may contact Article Finder, a division of The Arizona Republic's internal research library. Professional librarians are available weekdays from 9 a.m.-noon, and can be reached at (602) 444-8017 or via email at articlefinder@pni.com. Please note that librarians can only assist with searches of The Arizona Republic’s internal archives. We do not assist with searches of the World Wide Web or searches of publications that do not appear in our internal archives. Back issues
Limited quantities of past issues of The Arizona Republic are available for purchase for up to 90 days after the original publication date. You may order a back issue copy by calling (602) 444-8537 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Article and photo reprints
To request permission to reprint an article or obtain a copy of a photograph for personal or commercial use, please call (602) 271-5656 and enter code 1050 at the prompt. You may also send requests via email to
