CommWeb.com Editorial Staff to Work With CT Labs as Independent Analyst for CT Media Innovator 2000 Program

SAN FRANCISCO,-- CommWeb.com, CMP Media's new communications systems and networking community, is launching an Open Telephony Server Forum (OTSF), an online public meeting place for the open discussion of issues related to telephony-server development, implementation and standards initiatives.

The OTSF will cover solutions ranging from small to medium-sized business-communications systems that handle traditional telephone-call switching and messaging to full-scale customer-contact solutions to carrier-class enhanced telephony services platforms. It will also highlight significant developments in emerging technologies such as IP telephony, speech recognition and converged voice and data communications solutions for e-businesses.

"These emerging technologies are clearly moving from early adopter technophiles to mass market," said Steve Schneiderman, Senior Vice President of CMP Media's Voice/Data Group. "Unfortunately, there's been no credible source of information on the issues and the growing pains involved in moving from proprietary, closed, mainframe-like telecom systems to these next-generation solutions. Now CIOs, IT managers, business managers -- anyone involved in evaluations and purchase decisions -- can go to this site for comprehensive, hype-free information," Schneiderman said.

Besides focused editorial and lab-based product analyses from CommWeb.com and its related print publications (including Network Magazine, Computer Telephony Magazine and CallCenter Magazine), the OTSF will stress community exchanges of visitor ideas and hands-on user/developer experiences.

OTSF Chosen as "First Looks" Analyst For CT Media Innovator 2000 Program As part of its detailed product overviews, the OTSF editorial staff will provide first coverage of all products tested under the CT Media Innovator 2000 program, a program sponsored by Dialogic, an Intel Company, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard. The program recognizes and rewards innovative software products developed for open systems-based computer telephony servers using Dialogic CT Media server software. OTSF analysts will also post ongoing analyses of product features and market potential based on Innovator test reports generated by CT Labs, a Roseville, CA-based CT product testing and certification lab, and their own hands-on evaluations of product technical features, packaging and support.

The Open Telephony Server Forum is scheduled to launch February 9th, 2000. It will be a special area situated at CommWeb.com and linked to from other appropriate CMP Media sites.
