New Forums - Posted at 10:24, PM
qwerty has upgraded our forums. Now you can post as a "guest" visitor if you don't feel like registering a nickname. There's also a new feature that allows you to earn rank for each post you make. I'm not sure exactly how it works though. I tried logging into the admin area to check it out, but it looks like qwerty has changed the password or something. Go post something on the forums. PLEASE! =)

Brett Sperry interview - Posted at 12:53, AM
PCPlayer has done an interview with Brett Sperry . C&C Extreme has translated the interview in English. The interview is quite large and due to request from C&C Extreme a link to it is prohibited. However, here is some snippets that are interesting.

PC Player: How Did the idea to Renegade emerge?

Brett Sperry: The idea came us already 1994 when we worked yet on the first Command & Conquer. We considered like crazy, how it was to be below in the middle of the events. Almost two years ago, then finally also the 3D-Technology was so far that we were able to start with this project.

PC Player: Will Command & Conquer change therefore sooner piece for piece than on a blow?

Sperry: It is a combination out of both. I think our drafts are absolutely revolutionary. Perhaps it is not visible on the first view, we do not move a million polygons in a second.

PC Player: Will the C&C-story ever end?

Sperry: We wanted originally to make only three parts, but now when I see what we engaged all with Tiberian Sun, there could quietly yet follow three further titles. Without any problems. This world is so abundant, it will not be a problem to program new sequences as long as we can develop cool, innovative tactics for the magnificent story. The circumstance that we don't have to come out every twelve months with a new sequence, is very helpful.

Thanks to Forgotten Renegade for the tip, head on over there to get instructions to look at the full interview

Generation Renegade's Q&A - Posted at 12:45, AM
Generation Renegade has had a short interview with Aaron Cohen. Here is one of the questions:

Mjr. Laxx: Being a die hard NOD fan, I have to ask you this.. do you think some people will be upset because you can only play as GDI in single player?
Aaron: No. Nod's presence will be felt in the extreme.

For the rest, head on over to Generation Renegade.

Latest Released Screenshot - Posted at 11:50, AM
In the comment thread a little down the page for our news post: Official Renegade Site Update, there was some discussion about whether the A-10 screenshot was an ingame shot or from a movie sequence. Well, I emailed Westwood and they did indeed confirm that the screenshot is in-game. That's the actual game engine! So, I can assume that there is a 1st person view point along with the 3rd person view point.

Renegade Preview - Posted at 9:20, PM
The recent PC Gamer UK magazine included a year 2000 preview, on every game in production this year. Renegade was mentioned and the release date is sometime in 4th quarter of 2000. Here is the preview:

No matter how much you love the point-and-click action strategy genre as popularised by Command and Conquer, it's hard to deny that Renegade takes things in a brilliant new direction. In the role of a lone GDI commando, you can finally play with all the toys you once simply ordered your troops to use, and get up close and even enter the buildings you've helped to destroy from afar. An over-the-shoulder viewpoint makes the most of the detailed character work, as your army-of-one heads deep into NOD territory, sneaking into enemy bases, using all the familiar Command and Conquer vehicles and even stealing technology from the enemy. Although Westwood aren't renowned for their graphical prowess, Renegade's custom-built 3D engine is a revelation, superb at rendering detailed outdoor scenes, yet capable of cramming detail into the soldier-infested interiors. You know you want it, but with almost twelve months until launch patience is the only option.

Just a few moments ago, I told my friend to have a look at CnCRenegade.com, and what he told me was amazing, he was the 20,000 person to visit the site. Any way he emailed me the screenshot of the counter:

Our next big hit would probably have to be 50k hits. So stay tuned when it comes around.

Raider has been putting in alot of work for CnCR.com and has some great ideas - not to mention he's a fun guy to work with and can make hours and hours of working on this site alot more fun. I think with him as webmaster we'll get things done faster and better.Congrats Raider!

Official Renegade Site Update - Posted at 12:14, AM
The official Westwood Renegade page has been updated with the screenshot of the A10 Bombers. On the screen shot you can notice a piece of text stating "Actual Screenshot". I think that Westwood has implemented this feature to say that the screenshot is an actual screenshot from Renegade and not a touched up screenshot like some people thought that Westwood had done.
Any way here is the image:
