NEW YORK (CNN) -- They say two heads are better than one, but are three legs better than two? Maybe if they are legs of pantyhose.

Creators Annette Pappas and Nita Vaccaro, two Louisiana women with absolutely no background in pantyhose except wearing them, came up with the idea for three-legged pantyhose.

It's the same principle as the spare tire. But instead of a flat, it's a run women fear -- especially when they don't have time to run out and get another pair.

To wear, choose any two legs and put them on like a normal pair of hose. The spare leg is tucked into a pocket between the legs.

The inventors said if folded flat, the extra leg is invisible.

In event of a run, head to the ladies room and rotate the pantyhose 120 degrees. Pocket the leg with a run and put on the spare.

The inventors are talking to hosiery manufacturers and hope to market Apair-N-Aspare for about $10.

The three-way hose has already been named worst invention of the year by Parade magazine. The inventors correctly surmised a man must have written the article.

"I doubt very seriously he's ever worn a pair of pantyhose," Vaccaro said.
