E3 Starts Today | Gobalopper @ 11:50 CST
E3, or Electronic Entertainment Expo, starts today which means we should be hearing more about Westwood's latest games. They will probably only be releasing news on Renegade and Red Alert 2 but they may sneak some other news in there :)
If you want to find out more about the expo you can visit their official site or The Adrenaline Vault for some of the latest news from the show floor.

Moving Files | Gobalopper @ 15:23 CST
I am doing some moving of folders and files over the next little bit so if anything doesn't show up right or doesn't download properly that would be why, shouldn't take more then 30 minutes or so.

Dune III Interface | Gobalopper @ 02:59 CST
Perry who has written an article on Dune III in the past has just given me his latest article which outlines what he would like to see in an interface for Dune III. You can check it out in our articles section or try this direct link. As always if you have a well-written article based on Dune just let me know.

5+ Player Games on WWO | Gobalopper @ 20:33 CST
Did you know you could play 5+ player games with Dune 2000 on Westwood Online? It has been mentioned a few times but I had yet to see it. Well I checked it out today and had a chance to play in a 5 player game. I think I know why Westwood didn't include the option in the first place, it is way too slow. If you don't have a cable connection or someone you are playing is on dialup you are probably going to experience a lot of lag. The other problem is that there are only a few people that know how to host games like this. I'm not sure if it's a patch or someone hacked their game but as of right now you can only hope someone is hosting a 5 or 6 player game when you show up in the lobby. I will ask Westwood about it later this week.

More Developments | Gobalopper @ 23:12 CST
Just saw this story mentioned at CNCNZ that says Westwood will not be showing Pirates of Skull Cove at E3 as well as a still "unannounced" title from Westwood:

Additionally, Westwood has cancelled plans to show the other as-yet-unannounced title it has under development. That still leaves the company with Command & Conquer: Renegade and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 on display at the show.
Could the other unannounced title be the next Dune game? I think the odds are starting to change in our favour :)

Dune2k Mix | Gobalopper @ 22:22 CST
Loek of the DAF clan sent me an email saying that he created a musical mix of various sound clips from Dune games. I took a listen and it is actually pretty good, it has a nice beat and those guys getting run over or killed in the background are a nice touch :)
If you are interested you can find more at their website or download a 128-bitrate version(~3MB). He also mentioned that the DAF clan is running a tournament, so if you play online you may want to check it out.

Dune Emperor Domain | Gobalopper @ 19:58 CST
Some interesting news from a Renegade site of all places. They mention that Westwood registered a new domain name, dune-emperor.com, but I have found out that they have also registered the .net .org versions. They did this back on March 31, the same time they registered the Dune3000 domains. This lends a little more credibility to the post about a week ago on the strategy guide from Prima, no word from Westwood yet though...

Miniseries in December | Gobalopper @ 20:17 CST
The SCIFI.COM website has news that the premiere for the Dune Miniseries will be in December. They also updated the "Notes from the Front" section and if you haven't visited in a while there are some new images in their gallery.

Desert Sun Update | Gobalopper @ 14:33 CST
Destroyer who is working on Dune: The Desert Sun has an update concerning the status of his Tiberian Sun MOD. He plans on giving updates every month, this is the first:

I have completed all the units for the Atreides and Harkonnen listed on the page. My other programer is working on making an airstrike super weapon and adding support for a third or even more sides. One artists is working on the title screen, while the other is making unit graphics. The story writer is brainstorming currently and has just re-read Dune. Level production has yet to start. Also, ideas for things not listed on the page are under work and the information on those will be realsed when we are sure we will be using them.
He also mentioned that the project is about 5% complete.
