Editorial Guidelines
All e-mail mailing lists maintained by FCW Government Technology Group contain
the names of people who requested to receive information from us.
Currently, e-mail addresses may be used by FCW Government Technology Group to
promote FCW and IDG products and services, surveys,
and for editorial consultations with users. When a user has given us
explicit permission, his/her e-mail address may be rented to outside
firms for promotional purposes. We allow users to "opt out" of
receiving e-mail from outside firms and/or from FCW Government Technology Group
and its sister companies when e-mail information is collected.
Users who later decide they want to change their preferences may
do so by sending e-mail to subscriptions@fcw.com.
While FCW Government Technology Group will seek to require third parties with whom it
has agreements to follow appropriate privacy policies, we do not
bear any responsibility for any actions or policies of such third
parties.
fcw.com collects no personally identifying
information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly
provided by such individuals. In addition, fcw.com may
place a "cookie" in the browser files of a user's computer. The
cookie itself does not contain any personally identifying information
although it will enable fcw.com to manage the banner
advertisements presented to the user.
The aggregated information we collect is used for the following
purposes:
- to improve the content and design of the
fcw.com Web site
- to help advertisers and potential advertisers asses the
suitability of the site for their ad campaigns
"Cookies"
"Cookies" are a form of software technology used to collect
non-personal information about visitors to any particular site. This type
of information includes: type of browser used to access the Internet
(i.e. Netscape3.0, Internet Explorer 4.0), type of operating system (i.e.
Windows 95, Macintosh) and the domain of the visitor's Internet
service provider.
The fcw.com contracts with DoubleClick to sell and manage
the advertisements that you see on the site. The advertisements help
us bring you the fcw.com site without charge.
DoubleClick uses cookies to make sure that you do not see the same
advertisements repeatedly and when possible, shows advertising that
is relevant to you based on what you have seen previously. Cookies
are anonymous. Neither FCW Government Technology Group nor DoubleClick knows the name, e-mail
address, phone number, or home address of anybody who visits the
fcw.com site or any other site in the DoubleClick Network.
