iAmaze gives people a powerful new way to create and share information by bringing unique Web benefits to productivity applications.

Overview

The traditional software market is undergoing a dramatic change as applications evolve from the desktop to the Web. Similar to existing Web-based applications (e.g. email, calendar and storage), iAmaze’s suite of Web-based productivity applications is complementary to and compatible with existing desktop applications.

iAmaze was founded in 1999 by an experienced team dedicated to bringing Web benefits to traditional presentation, word processing and spreadsheet applications. iAmaze’s engineering team has years of experience developing traditional productivity applications. At Lighthouse Design, the team shipped thirteen productivity applications for the NeXT computer platform. Lighthouse Design was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 1996, where the team led Sun’s Java-based application initiative.

iAmaze Presenter: First in a Suite of Applications

iAmaze Presenter is an online slide show application that allows users to easily create and share almost any type of information — business presentations, photo albums, auction items, homepages, event announcements, and much more. Our word processor and spreadsheet are coming soon.

The Need for Web-based Applications

Today’s workforce is mobile, communicating with colleagues via email and the Web. Consumers increasingly communicate with friends and family via email and chat rooms, using text, images and sound to share a variety of events — engagement announcements, vacation adventures, and new baby arrivals. However, there are a variety of problems that make communication difficult: 1) existing tools require technical expertise; 2) different computing platforms, software versions and viruses inhibit file sharing; 3) no real-time collaboration; 4) email attachments often get garbled and take a long time to download; and 5) mobile users want access to their files from anywhere.

Collaboration iAmaze dramatically improves upon today’s collaboration process, whereby business colleagues or students typically send email attachments back and forth. Users can now create and edit the same document at the same time.

Enhanced distribution (email URLs, not attachments): iAmaze documents are shared via Web pages, rather than by email attachment. This eliminates large attachment downloads, versioning, firewalls, viruses, and other issues that prevent recipients from opening document attachments. Through password protection and time-expiration features, the users can also preserve control over confidential information.
