The MILLENNIUM BIOS BOARD(TM) provides a hardware fix for nearly every Year 2000 deficient BIOS from all known manufacturers. Just like a video card, it works at the lowest level to create a BIOS extension that allows any PC to change the date correctly from 31st December 1999 to 1st January 2000.

There are two types of MILLENNIUM BIOS BOARD(TM)

  • Type 1 - The Original - is a fit and forget solution.

    • It brings your PC up to compliance level 5.
    • Smart Mode gives a warning if the CMOS is affected by a legacy application at Roll-over to 01/01/2000.

  • Type 2 - The Pro - has:

    • All of the above.
    • A built-in non-volatile asset management memory facility. This matches the data that can be recorded when FPro2000 is run.
If you have a lot of PCs to fix, users who delete software fixes, or removable hard disks then the MILLENNIUM BIOS BOARD(TM) provides the answer. Just plug it in to a free 8 bit ISA slot and forget it. Just fixing the application software is not enough because dates have to work at four levels. Replacing the BIOS is often impossible and changing motherboards is an expensive and complicated option.

Dates have to work at four levels: Hardware which has two main components. These are the Real Time Clock/CMOS memory and the BIOS. The Real Time Clock/CMOS memory records the date and time and keeps count while the PC is off. The BIOS reads the time and date from the CMOS memory at start-up and makes them available to the operating system and any applications that ask for them. If this level does not work then the others may all fail to use 'Today's date' correctly.

Operating System which keeps track of date and time while the PC is in use and passes it to the applications. It reads the date and time from the BIOS or RTC/CMOS memory at startup. It then updates the BIOS and CMOS memory, whenever required.

Applications which should get the date and time from the OS and store it as data. However, some read the time and date directly from the CMOS memory or BIOS. To keep these applications working you may need to fit a MILLENNIUM BIOS BOARD(TM). Applications sometimes provide 'macros' and user code facilities. Any code produced using these must also be checked out.

Data files and fields which store the date and time as provided by the applications, and then pass it back when requested. If you have a network you have to check more than the server. If a non-compliant PC makes local changes to vital data and then connects to the network your whole enterprise database may be corrupted, or backup data for that PC may be lost.
