Lno is moving to a new server. Your isp's DNS will most likely cache the new switch within 3 days or so.
Here's the new IP: http://216.87.208.127

Open Source App Site

I was sent this link awhile ago, but because I get a decent sized amount of news submissions some get buried and I don't get a chance to go back to them.
Once of these submissions was in regards to this site called appwatch. Its a freshmeat like site however, appwatch is dedicated to open source apps only. I like their interfaces also. :) Not to mention appwatch runs on Zope, which is supposedly similar to Cold Fusion for linux. LNO might incorporate zope soon.

The Stormix people sent this press release in, but I've been so busy moving the site to the new server I didn't have a chance to get it up.
"Stormix Technologies Inc. announces that Storm Linux 2000 will ship with the demo version of Applixware Office 4.4.2, a leading office suite on the Linux platform.

I saw this linked story on LinuxToday: "Developers soon will be able to use a popular Web application platform for building E-business solutions on the Linux operating environment.
Allaire Corp. told more than 1,200 developers at its first user conference, held here, that it will ship ColdFusion 4.5 in December, with first-time support for Linux."
--I've heard from a few beta testers that CF 4.5 ain't exactly whats its cracked up to be just yet. As of right now it only supported Sybase and the overall support wasn't that great. Hopefully by december it will be ready. I'm a CF'er and I hope I can use it on the site. If not I'll try Zope :).

LocustX sent in a link to his newbie article: "...So you've finally done what all of your techie-friends suggested - installed a copy of Linux onto your home computer. Sure, it probably took a few sleepless nights, and maybe a week of having to deal with the elitists on alt.os.linux, but at least now you've got it setup..."

Judge Jackson: Linux Won't Last : Oh Really?

Ripped from WiRED, "Linux aficionados who are applauding US District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's bitter denunciation of their archrival Microsoft might want to read the fine print first. In the 207-page preliminary ruling, Jackson says that "fringe" operating systems like Linux are destined for continued niche market status.
He said that only a "small number" of diehard geeks will choose..."

Linuxnewbie.org is 'the place' for people that are transitioning
to Linux from Windows and are having a hard time learning
how to operate, install, and getting around the OS. I
hope you find the information here useful in setting up
your new and old Linux machines.
At Linuxnewbie.org we have devised a different system
of learning Linux. Instead of following the boring HOW-TO's
and reading MAN pages, "we" would like to act as a portal
and archive all of the tips/tricks and "HOWTO's" users
have created or send in to us. These files will be laid
out in an easy to read and understandable format.
Linuxnewbie.org not only plans to bring you "Newbieized
Help Files," but "we" plan on bringing you "Newbieized
Help Files" on other OS's such as IRIX and Solaris as
well as any and all distributions of Linux.
Our Credo:
"We the newbies of the Linux community, in Order
to form a more perfect Union, establish better documentation,
insure cross platform understanding, provide for the common
computer user, promote the general goodness of Linux and
other OS's, and secure the Blessings of Linus to ourselves
and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Website
for the Linux Newbies--Linuxnewbie.org" - sensei@linuxnewbie.org

A NHF is a "Newbieized Help File". The concept was developed by Sensei, the owner and admin of
LNO. What LNO and many of the forum users are creating is a new form of documentation for
newbies-advanced users.
