(PHP4 )

session_encode --  Codiert die Daten der aktuellen Session als String

Beschreibung

bool session_encode(void);

session_encode() gibt einen String mit dem codierten Inhalt der aktuellen Session zurück.

Anmerkung: Diese Funktion wurde in PHP 4.0 eingeführt.

i dont quite follow, is this some sort of cryptating thing? why would i want to use this, please explain.

If you'd like to store a users session in say..a database, to be retreived later..this function will return a text string that contains all the variables from that session, and the variables can be retreived later by plugging the string into session_decode()

Shouldn't this be:

After all, it does return a string, not a boolean.

I quite agree.. it shud be string rather than bool. I can't seem to find a way to use it. Is it $x=session_encode() or is it simply session_encode()

If PHP is run on the server-side, how much use is session_encode or session_decode except to keep server-side variables in the URL string? Passing variables to the server through a web-form and then encoding them is pretty useless. I like cparrish's idea about encoding SID's, but otherwise I'm at a lost.

Perhaps for passing session information between servers, ie, User starts a session on ServerA, but ServerA sends User to ServerB for some reason or another, but Coder wants the session info to be carried between, so he uses session_encode to pass the session info on to ServerB through the URL...

Does that sound right?
