Vodafone To Woo U.S. Mannesmann Investors
Vodafone CEO Chris Gent plans to meet with takeover target Mannesmann's U.S. investors to win support for his record-breaking hostile bid for the German group. Beginning in New York on Monday, Gent plans face-to-face presentations with eight to 10 investors a day as well as group briefings, finishing Wednesday, sources told Reuters.

AT&T Said To Be Considering $10B Wireless IPO
Following the news that AT&T plans to issue a wireless tracking stock, the Wall Street Journal reports the telecom giant is considering an IPO of these shares. The paper said this could be the largest U.S. IPO ever, raising up to $10 billion for up to 15 percent of the wireless unit.

Hitachi Swings Back Into Profit
Japanese electronics maker Hitachi announced on Thursday it returned to profit in the six months to Sept. 30. Recovery in the company's memory chip and LCD divisions saw the company post a pretax profit of 31.82 billion yen ($304.9 million), up from a pretax loss of 146.62 billion yen last year.
