The Bazaar features hands-on tutorials, general session lectures, and an exposition at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, December 14-16. Topics range from pearls of wisdom for beginners to nitty gritty
programming for veterans.

IBM at The Bazaar
IBM is the cornerstone partner, which may even entitle us to free snacks or something. developerWorks will be there, sharing our experiences on open source projects and getting feedback from conference attendees on our open source and Linux zones.
Three IBM sessions are currently scheduled.
- IBM's Road to Open Source (T601)
Instructors Scott McAllister, Peter Capek, and David Shields will spend a 1/2 day sharing experiences in determining and implementing IBM's decision to become involved in the open source movement. This session is designed for technical and business/management folks and is free (unlike some of the other tutorials).
Scheduled: Tuesday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Wednesday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
- Using GNOME (T602)
Instructor Scott McBrien will introduce the functions of the GNOME graphical user interface in this 1/2 day session. You'll use graphical tools to accomplish routine tasks such as viewing and editing files and listing the contents of a directory. Yes, Virginia, Linux can be user friendly!
This session is intended for users who have experience working on the command line who would like to switch to a grapical user interface, or those who would like to learn more features of the GNOME interface.
Scheduled: Tuesday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Thursday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
- Building Beowulf clusters on Linux boxes (T603)
Instructor George Bragg, a graduate student working at the IBM Centre
for Advanced Studies in Toronto, Canada, will discuss and demonstrate building Beowulf clusters on Linux boxes.
Scheduled: Wednesday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
One of the highlights will be an IBM-sponsored private reception and holiday shopping extravaganza at the flagship location of FAO Schwartz. On Wednesday from 9:00 pm until 11:00 pm you can indulge yourself on champagne and desserts while finishing your holiday shopping. The store will even ship your purchases back home for you. Buses will take you from The Javits.

The list of keynote and panel speakers reads like a who's who in the free and open source community. On Tuesday you'll hear from:
