About BeLpd Tools:
BeLpd Tools is a small suite of printing tools for the BeOS.
It's addressed to provide network printing services for BeOS
machines living in a Unix centric network.
I wrote these to fill my necessity of sharing a printer between my
Linux box and my BeOS box. I know i could have used Samba but I
thought I could fill a gap in the BeOS by writing these tools.
BeLpd Tools is a small suite of printing tools for the BeOS.
It's addressed to provide network printing services for BeOS
machines living in a Unix centric network.
The suite will be comprised of the following tools:
* Lpd transport add-on
* Lpq/lprm utilies
* Lpr utility for BeOS
* Lpd daemon for BeOS
The 'lpd transport add-on' is an implementation of RFC 1179
(Line Printer Daemon Protocol). It allows a BeOS machine to print
across the network to a printer attached to a unix host or to a
network printer honoring the Berkeley lpd printer protocol.
Lpq/lprm are utilities to check/manage the status of remote printer
queues. Lpr is a command line utility to print jobs (not only to lpd printers).
Finally lpd is a daemon that allows sharing your printers with unix
workstations.
