About Tracker.NewFS:
This is a modified version of OpenTracker. The filesystem operations are totally rewritten with lots of new features and with dramatic speed increase. It's rather stable now ready for everyday use.
And no it's not intended as a seperate OT branch, sources are available, anything may happen... but it seems fairly certain now that it's not going to be accepted for the OpenTracker project, at least not in the near future.
Core engine:
* automatic buffer expansion when copying on one device (released when paused)
* multithreaded, triple buffered copy routine when it's working on two devices (well increased copy speed with decent drives and big files; i've managed to copy from fat32 to fat32 with 17 MB/sec, sustained on two Quantum IDE drives) from 50 to 150+% speed increase in general when copying compared to the original Tracker (two disk more is usually more then twice as fast!)
* every single system call that may fail is checked and is retryable (no more space and only 10k is left from a 2gigs file? you may hit retry after you made some space)
* automatic chunk selection to update the progress indicator often enough
* when running out of space you may instruct the engine to automatically delete files from the Trash in the order of time spent in Trash
* full support of relative links:
* if you copy a directory that contains a relative link and also it's target then the copied link will point to the copied target
* if you copy a relative link to another volume it's converted to absolute
- limitation: if you drop a relative link and it's target (not a whole dir containing both of them) then the above mechanism does not work
* possibility of applying filters to file iterators (e.g. deleting all *.o files recursively) [no GUI yet]
* great flexibility when problems occur (like switching to copy the link targets instead of the links themselves on fat volumes, or the possibility to replace, make unique name, or move to trash or specify name of both files in the case of a name collision; you may append and continue files, or enter conflicting directories and go on)
* you may skip entries/whole directories in case of an alert, or by pressing shift/command and the skip button in the status window
* if the directory was created by the runing operation then it's completly removed
* if we are sweeping togather two directories then the file being copied is finished first
* it's possible to manually skip the preflight scan (when scanning total size; ever tried to copy a few thousand files from a cdrom? :)
* in case of an error half-done files or empty directories are removed
Dialog Window:
* keyboard + mouse wheel navigable
* you may force automatic answering with a checkbox (switchable with Command + Space)
* font sensitive
* closing the window cancels the operation
* escape key is a cancel shortcut (not yet working due to the lack of implementation in BeOS)
Status Window:
* new estimated time display
* now progress is displayed with numbers (file count and size)
* new skip button to skip preflight scan/skip a file/skip a directory
* ofcourse font sensitive
* status window popup is delayed to avoid flickers with fast operations
* resizable
* you may drop the status view replicant on the Desktop instead of an annoying window (does not yet work due to some limitation in the current version of BeOS)

Details about this version:
It's a relative young codebase, but it's being continously tested by several people and I didn't receive report of any serious bug in the last months. I think it's safe now for everyday work. Check the original OpenTracker readme at the link below!
News:
* Synced with OT, now contains SingleWindowBrowse
* There'll be a localized version soon with dynamic language switching and stuff... :)
Old news:
* The given answers seperately for each questions are remembered until the next reboot and are marked by default.
* The order of the answers is the same in the expanded and collapsed view.
* Added a detailed progress view with various info like copy speed, and in case of a multithreaded copy the amount of time the reader and the writer threads are waiting for each other. (Good to measure wether the source or the target is slower.)
* Rewritten the less/more stuff, so that it's easier to configure (in the sources) which answers should be in the expanded view
* ReplaceIfNewer was broken when copying and the two files had the same modification time.
* Moving between two disks and selecting DeleteSource didn't work in some case or something...
* It's possible to enable at compile-time if relative links should keep their targets when they are moved to another dir on the same volume. This is disabled by default.
* Contains all the latest stuff from the main OpenTracker tree
* Some people reported that copied files were smaller, very rare. Fixed a bug that probably caused it.
* Half-rewritten the much hated dialog window.
* The included libtracker.so in the previous version didn't contained some private symbols that were used by BeIDE. But replacing libtracker.so by the NewFS version takes not much extra, so I suggest installing an original OpenTracker pkg to replace the "bugous" NewFS libtracker.so and then the current NewFS pkg taht comes without libtracker.so.
* According to real life test it's 50-150+% faster then the original Tracker with big files. When copying between two disks it's usually more then twice as fast!
* When cancelling an operation I try to clean up every half done file/dir which is sometimes not desired, so there's a requester now before deleting those entries.
