Gearing Up for Windows 2000
In anticipation of one the most important releases out of Redmond in years, we are launching a
brand new part of Codeguru called
Windows 2000 Central.
When completed this site will
contain all the articles, tips, tutorials and code you'll need to stay abreast of this
revolutionary new operating system. As someone that's been developing on W2K for about
6 months now, I can hardly wait for the formal release. However, for those of you
who can't wait, you can get your W2K fix here at CodeGuru!!

Windows 2000 Forums
In conjunction with the new
Windows 2000 Central
site at CodeGuru, there are new
Forums that enable you start to share ideas, concerns, experiences and opinions on
this new and exciting platform. In an attempt to cover the different major areas of
Windows 2000, we have created the following
five (5) forums:

Directory Services -
Active Directory is one of the big draws of Windows 2000, and also Microsoft's
first-generation directory service -- so there will be plenty to talk about.

Windows DNA 2000 Programming -
COM+ has been one of the big Windows 2000 promises for years, and now it's
shipping. Microsoft's version of XML also serves as a middleware and connectivity
backbone.

NT Meets Windows 2000 -
Discussion of issues for those moving from NT4 to
Windows 2000. This is also a great place for those who are supporting mixed-mode
networks with both types of systems.

Scalability -
Clustering, SMP, and support for massive amounts of RAM are
integrated into Windows 2000, but how do you get these larger systems running
full throttle?

Security -
From the Encrypted File System and new Kerboros support to
new features in COM+, Windows 2000 has a number of security improvements
over NT4.
New Forum for
Article Suggestions
Another idea whose implementation is way overdue is the creation of a new
Forum for
article suggestions.
That's right! Now you can finally have a wish
list to post a request or desire for the programming tutorial or code that
you need! Also if you're wanting to contribute to CodeGuru and don't know what
you want to write about, then check out this forum to get some ideas.

CodeGuru Improvement Poll
As we saw from the Comments Section poll, CodeGuru readers aren't afraid to let
their voices be heard when it comes to doing what it takes to keep CodeGuru as
the Web's number one site for free programming source code and tutorials. Therefore,
this week's poll will be another "Help us make CodeGuru better" poll. In this poll,
we're asking which improvement you would most like to see at the site.

For the past 2 weeks we've run a poll in order to determine how much of a priority
do you, the readers and contributors of CodeGuru, place on the Comments feature found
at the bottom of every article. Well,

and it's clear just how
important the Comments section is to you. Therefore, you can look for us to fix what's
wrong with this obviously integral part of CodeGuru and to add some exciting new features
to it very sson.
