Whereas Netscape once ruled the world of Web browsers, the former king now has its work cut out for itself with the release of version 4.0 (and now 5.0) of Internet Explorer. Netscape Communicator still retains an edge over Internet Explorer in a few areas, but by and large Netscape has fallen far behind the curve in terms of Web technology. Version 5.0 of Netscape -- when it's finally released -- should narrow the gap considerably, but it's doubtful that the browser will ever be able to fully catch back up with the Internet Explorer juggernaut.
