AltaVista® occasionally receives requests to remove links or newsgroup postings from the AltaVista® database. Although AltaVista® reserves the right to address such requests on a case-by-case basis, AltaVista's® approach generally reflects the following principles:
- The identification, indexing and cataloguing of Web sites and news groups is done automatically by software with no opportunity for advance review of content by human beings. Given the enormous volume of information added to and changed on the Web on a daily basis, the maintenance of this service cannot be sustained in any other way. Accordingly, AltaVista® does not and cannot screen anything posted on this Web site or on any AV Site.
