Shenmue's state of grandeur has no bearing on the quality of Suzuki's previous home-grown titles.
What you want, it's what we like.
Anoop or whoever is doing the q&a now,
As you well know, christmas is coming and im going to be asking for
dreamcast games(duh). i can probably get a maximum of 4 so what do you think i should ask for?? i already have buggy 2000(er, i mean blitz 2000) and soul calibur oh yeah, what the hell is going on with rainbow six??
Thanks,
S. Vating
What a wonderful question. Be sure and check out our upcoming Holiday Buyer's guide where we reveal what we want, and therefore what you should want.
What's going on with Rainbow Six? I honestly have no idea. Let's hope they can release it this year, as these delays have easily made it one of the system's most anticipated titles.
Sharing resources is practical
Hey Anoop, VGA adapters are all fine for making my DC LOOK good, but what about making my DC SOUND good? Is there any way that I can hook my
computer's Surround Sound speakers and subwoofer to my DC?
- Juan
The VGA Adapters can output directly to the headphone-style output jack that your PC speakers should read in. If you want to avoid getting the VGA Adapter, you can buy a little adapter from Radio Shack that will convert the WHITE/RED audio cables into a single headphone output - I use the opposite of this, by the way, to connect my old model Genesis to my stereo for super stereo sound.
You got it all wrong, Chiefwu!
Why is it that you give WWf Attitude an overall review of 8.0, but then
turn around in the Dreamcast November round up and say to avoid this ame
at all costs? I think communication within the divsion is in order!!!
- Chiefwu
The November roundup was written by one of our affiliates, completely separate from us. Beyond that, the review of the game is one opinion and one opinion alone, so don't expect to find everyone at the site agreeing with the review. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you'll find good 'ole Anoop taking a shot at Attitude somewhere.
A full year to translate a game? BAH!
I have 2 quick questions
1. Why does it take so long for Japanese games that are going to be
brought to the US to come out? I mean what is involved in transferring a
game from Japanese to English besides the language?
2. I heard on another less reputable site that EA is about to join the
Dreamcast bandwagon is this true.
Jamillican1
The language is one of the main concerns. For a good-sized role playing game, you'll probably end up with an English script well beyond one hundred thousand words, about the length of your typical 300 page paperback. Also under consideration, though, is timing. Companies want their big games (i.e. Final Fantasy and Shenmue) to be released when people are most likely to buy the game (i.e. Christmas, and if not that, May).
Haven't heard anything on EA.
Excited about those bug busted chicks?
I was wonderinf is Dead or Alive 2 was out for DreamCast and if you had it. Im really looking forward to getting the game as soon as its out so i was wondering if it was out.
- you (Suzuki?)
DOA2 has seen its official release in Japanese arcades. Expect a Japanese Dreamcast version some time early next year.
And on a related note.
Hey, you titled an answer "English voices, and why they're expensive," but
then said only that dubbing is expensive, leaving the question: Why? Heck,
gimme a fiver and I'll crow, "Get up... if you dare!" and other assorted
corniness.
KJ Mc
Keep your crow out of my Soul Calibur
But what about Suzuki's 1st console game?
I wounder if the classic (from mega drive) sword of vermillion
is going to be released to dreamcast?
- krilleee
What? You want to see Yu Suzuki and AM2's first console game appear on the Dreamcast? I'd sincerely doubt it. Instead, you may want to look forward to the group's second big-time console RPG, Shenmue.
Is one year really too long?
It has been too long since we have been graced with the greatness that is
any Shining Force game. Now in my big wise brain I am thinking.. Sega....
Shining Force.... .. .. Dreamcast? It is bad enough they have to another
Phantasy Star game.... imagine how great a Shining Force Online game would
be! Please tell me something.... anything is in the works on a Shining Force
game... please....I need it... come on... lie to me if you have to...
p.s. Katakana is not the Japanese way of writing English words you crazy
fruity psycho freaky bastard... it is for all foreign words, even if the
majority are English. I did this on my dc with no keyboard so if you do not
answer it I will be forced to get the kids of South Park interested in
chinpokomon again, only this time the evil power will be IGN HQ. Oh yeah...
Dragon Ball Z SUCKS. (answer Shining Force question)
- Eric
Too long? SFIII just came out last year! And if you have Japanese speaking ability, you probably managed to get your hands on three editions of the game along with a special fan disk. I think it will be a few years before we see another Shining Force - just a hunch, though.
P.S.: That's a Dreamcast.
Are you going to have a Spawn game for DreamCast? The Play Station 2 one looks awsome! Hopefully you all will make one soon!
- cc5
Any version of Spawn you've seen thus far is running off the Dreamcast-compatible Naomi board. We actually have a preview of the game in our preview section.
It's not always SOA's fault.
I was reading your Q&A Monday night and someone asked why the Japanese
voice overs aren't translated for American release. To these people, I
ask: Have you played House of the Dead 2 yet? The English voice over in
that game is abhorent. Shall I talk about Sega Bass Fishing or Sonic
Adventure? C'mon people! Appreciate what you get. Personally, I like
Japanese voice overs in my games. While I may not understand the
language, it sure is beautiful.
Tyler
Actually, the voices in the Japanese version of HOTD2 are also in English. I think Sega crapified it on purpose.
