Bio Sensor
It clips to your ear and knows just how stressed out you are.
November 10, 1998
This winter, Seta, the company behind the N64's first cartridge-modem game (Morita Shogi) is ready to give gamers another odd accessory: the Bio Sensor.
With the release of Tetris 64 (formerly known as Bio Tetris), Seta is introducing a device with a cord and an earclip, called the Bio Sensor. One end of the gadget plugs into your controller's memory pak slot, the other clips right to your ear.
In Tetris 64's Bio Tetris mode (or any other game that supports the Bio Sensor), the player's bio rhythm is measured by the clip and the data sent to the cart. Seta's Tetris game offers two basic settings for the feedback function:
Relaxation makes the game easier if you get more excited (or nervous), resulting in slower dropping pieces and a more relaxed gamer.
Excitement, or maybe they should call it "heart attack" speeds up the pace of the game as your heart accelerates.
So far, not other games have been announced that support the Bio Sensor. But with any luck, future Seta releases could be compatible as well. How about a button-mashing Olympics game?
There are currently no plans for a US release of the device.
