My Secrets Are Out
What's been taking you so long to update the Q&A section, jerkface? How come you haven't answered any new questions since last Thursday, gooberlips? What's up with that, dirtpants? Quit playing with your stupid monkey and get off your lazy a$$ and answer some questions. And not with that sarcastic tone you usually take, answer them like a gentleman. I know your mother didn't raise you like that!
-- Tal
That's a good question, Tal. Hmmmmm ... why haven't I updated the Q&A section for three days? Let me reflect ... Oh yeah, on Friday Trent had me cleaning the toilets here at the office with a toothbrush and a box of raisins. I'm not even going to tell you what he made me do with the toothbrush after the cleaning. As for the raisins, they were donated to charity.

This weekend I had to fulfill my community service duties. I'd rather not go into the details or how I became a, how do you say, public servant, but let's just say it involved an economy size jar of Miracle Whip, a box of lawn darts, two dozen car batteries, and the Swedish women's volleyball team. Whew ... that was a crazy night. Anyway, to keep from getting thrown in the slammer, I don my Cap'n' Mackerel suit and entertain the children at Camp Idonwannago every weekend. Man, those kids look funny.
I was planning on doing a full update on Monday but, much to my dismay, I had to be rushed to the hospital. We had lunch at McDonald's that day and I started feeling really weird. I got this burning sensation way down inside right in the middle of lunch. I couldn't figure it out until I started peeling the game piece off of my fries. That's when I discovered just what was going on. I got VD at McDonald's. Just take a look at my piece -- the doctor sure did.
So, I hope that explains why you haven't seen a new Q&A in a few days. Well, I'll stop telling you about my boring life and get on with why you came here, to see pictures of scantily clad women in provocative poses. Er, I mean to read today's Q&A. What do you think this is, the Victoria's Secret catalog?

Reader Responses To Your Questions
I think in understand DaBigD's problem with having saves overwritten by others, because I had a similar one with my roommate. Autosave automatically kicks in at certain save points. If DaBigD was only using autosave, and his brother used a save putting him in another section of the game, whenever his brother would reach a save point, the autosave would overwrite any previous info. DaBigD needs to either use standard save slots on use a big stick to keep others away from his computer.

Why didn't you mention to BASEBALL351 about Team Fortress Classic and the
Counterstrike MOD? They are both team oriented, plus you get Half-Life.
That is all. You may continue with your difficult work of running a website
with just two people.
-- ANTdman
Good point, ANT. I did forget to mention TFC, which does offer really good multiplay. Add that to the list too, BASEBALL. As for the Counterstrike MOD, I've never played it (ack!), but I'll have to download it and give it a try.
-- Tal
Nah Nah Nah, Boo Boo
I was reading the Q&A one day and Tal recommended to someone that Tribes
was a lot better multiplayer game than Half-Life. This is not true. I
have both Half-Life and Tribes and I think Half-Life is way better. Plus
Half-Life has loads of mods you can play like
Counterstrike, or TFC and
TF2 is going to be great when it's released. So how can you say that
Tribes is better than Half-Life??
-- No Name
How can I say that Tribes multiplay is better than Half-Life multiplay? Easy, because I like Tribes better than Half-Life multiplay. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Thems The Breaks
Why don't they just make PCs with all you need for gaming? For mine to
meet minimum requirements I needed a new processor, more RAM, a faster
CD-ROM, and a 3-D accelerator card.
-- Matt
That's just the way PC gaming is, Matt. The PC has always been designed as a constantly upgradeable platform so, as new technologies emerge, game designers develop games that support those new advancements.

Mr. DriverMan II: Electric Boogaloo
I would like to know how to install new video drivers on my new
computer. I have a new Dell P3 system w/a Viper V770D Ultra and the
drivers were the Dell specific version of the newest Diamond drivers. I
installed the TNT patch on FF7 and they say the only way to fix the
gritty video and the flickering FMV is to download the newest drivers
from NVIDIA, which are the ones based on Detonator 2.08. They say I have
to uninstall the old drivers and install theirs. My main question is if
I uninstall my video drivers, wouldn't that mean I would be staring at a
blank screen? Can you send me a step-by-step on how to do this?
-- Bakr Odeh
In most cases, you shouldn't have to uninstall your old drivers. You can just update your drivers with the new ones. For a detailed description of how to do this, check out the Q&A section from June 29th. Of course, change the 'S3 Virge 325' part to 'Viper V770D.'
Regardless, make sure you have a backup of your drivers just in case something does go wrong. That way you can always reinstall the old ones.

More With The Vipers
I just brought a Diamond Viper v550 video card, I was wondering does it support Open GL games. If so are there any drivers on the CD to install the Open GL drivers so I can run games that supports them?
-- Mark DiSiena
Easy enough ... yes, the Viper does support OpenGL. As far as the CD drivers go, I'm not positive cause I don't have a 550 disc handy, but even if it doesn't you can always download the drivers off of the Web. Just go to www.opengl.org and make with the clickin'.

My Memory's Fading
I read your Q&A the other day and you said EverQuest eats up a lot of memory.
Well, I have a Pentium 200 with only 32RAM, and whenever I zone, it takes a
LONG time to load. I was wondering if I should upgrade my processor or RAM
to make the loading faster? Please answer this for me, cuz I really hate
waiting 1 minute every time I zone.
Thanx alot!
-- gokou69
Jack your system up to 128MB. Although a faster processor is definitely an upgrade you should look into for the future, you'll notice a huge improvement in your EQ performance worth 128MB RAM, especially when it comes to zoning. A fast hard drive doesn't hurt, either.

Well Edumacated
What did you guys have to do to be game reporters, did you have to do English in university or something?
-- D-Generation X
It sho' heps if youze now sum gud english, but what being a games journalist is really all about is holding your liquor at press parties. It would be rather embarrassing to toss your cookies at a huge press party like this poor young lady. And notice the Dreamcast in the backgorund. Hmmmm ... could it be the next incarnation of Sega that made her sickly? Even through all of this, though, she still manages to look good. I mean, check out those legs. Wait a minute, I guess I did include some scantily clad women in today's Q&A! Good for me!
