Window Maker is an X11 window manager designed to give additional integration support for GNUstep applications. It tries to emulate the elegant look and feel of the NeXTSTEP(tm) GUI. It is relatively fast, feature rich, and easy to configure and use. If you have any questions about Window Maker, you're urged to read the FAQ that is maintained by Chris Green. You can also read a slightly modified version by Largo. If the answer to your question(s) isn't available in the FAQ's, you can try the Mailing Lists. Please note that asking questions on the list which are covered in the FAQ is NOT A GOOD IDEA. For those of you that can view postscript, you should take a look at the User Guide. You can also view the HTML version in the works by Jeremy Crabtree. The latest version of Window Maker is 0.61.1 in [ gzip | bzip2 | patch ] formats. For 0.6x.x, you must download and compile the NEW libPropList seperately. As of 0.52.x, themes and extra icons are in the Window Maker Extras tarball. Read the ChangeLog for what's new.

1999-10-05 There were a few small bugs discovered in libPropList (0.9.0), specifically fixes for compilation problems on FreeBSD and Solaris, and a bug fix in parsing proplists when reading config files. Everyone is encouraged to upgrade to libPropList (0.9.1) .. all links on the FTP and website have been changed to point to the new release. Sorry folks, but this is the price for being on the bleeding edge. :) 1999-10-04 0.61.1 has been released. This is only a bug fix/maintenance release. However, it is to be noted that an updated libPropList is required. You must download the NEW libPropList (0.9.0) to be able to use 0.61.1. The new libPropList is 100% backwards compatiable with previous versions and fixes many nasty bugs. EVERYONE should upgrade!. If you do not, it may cause random crashes and domain database corruption in whatever applications that use the older version(s). 1999-09-20 0.61.0 has now been released. Over 22 bug fixes, a new "smart placement" window mode, new edge attraction, and the normal slew of other miscellaneous things. Note that there is NO PATCH/DIFF available with this version, due to a previous version number mixup on 0.60.0. We apologize for the inconvenience, and have taken steps to prevent this in the future.
