Dock Applications
- ASClock is probably one of the most popular dock apps around for both AfterStep and Window Maker. It allows you to change the LED colors, use 12/24 hour time format, and launch an application with a single click. It was originally written by Beat Christen.
- WMload is a cool little dockapp that is very similar to xload. It graphs user and kernel cpu usage (using different shades of the graph color). The update interval, graph color, and single click execute are all configurable. It is written and maintained by Ryan Land.
- The Window Maker sound server is becoming a popular dockapp. Basically, it interprets WM events (such as shading a window or minimizing an application) and plays a sound associated with that event. Since it's dockable, you can have it automatically launch on startup, or "kill" it off if it becomes too noisy. WMsound was written by Anthony Quinn. If you're interested in this dockapp, you should also check out WMSound Setup or wmsoundconfig which are both configuration utilities for WMsound.
- Shown here are WMppp, WMifs, and WMmon (aka Warp's Apps). WMppp/WMifs allows you to see your interface statistics based on a continuously updated graph. WMppp is a frontend to pppd that allows you to assign your connect/disconnect scripts to the checkmark and X buttons. WMifs can be configured to monitor any interface on your system (the LED lights are real-time). WMmon is the universal system monitor dockapp. It has three different modes which show mem/swap/uptime, disk I/O, and CPU usage. In addition to these, Warp has several others in the works, all of which can be found on Everything Window Maker!
- ASmixer is a volume control dockapp. The three sliders can be configured to manipulate a specific control, such as master volume, synth volume, pcm volume, etc. This was written by Rob Malda, who has also created ascd (now being maintained by Denis Bourez), and asmodem. They can all be found on his My Stuff page.
- WMmail is a mail-checker like xbiff, based on ASmail. It indicates the status of a user's mailbox by showing animated XPM icons when incoming mail is detected. It can be configured to execute a program on incoming mail and/or on mouse double-clicks, and can provide a count of E-mail in the user's mailbox (in the graphic to the left, it shows two new E-mail's out of a total of 27 present). It was written by Bryan Chan.
- WMeyes is pretty straightforward... it sits in the Window Maker dock, and the eyes follow your cursor around the screen. It is dubbed by the author, Bryan Feir, as the world's most useless dock app. If you don't use Window Maker or the Dock, you're better off with xeyes.
- WMScope is a little applet that docks under Window Maker and will display audio data with a nifty looking real-time sine wave. It was written by John Meacham.
- CyrX 2 is a cyrillic keyboard layout manager, allowing users to switch between KOI8, iso8859-5, and cp1251 on-the-fly. It was written by Michael Nikonov.
- wmphone is a utility that alerts you of incoming talk requests. When wmphone receives a talk request, it will play a sound and flash the icon; clicking on the icon will allow you to answer the talk request. It was written by Paul Warren.
