GA-Source Weekly Column: Investor Insight, Issue #5/99 (5:13 am)
Last week we took a peek at some major players and their moves. This week Bo Andersson, our Industry Analyst, looks into the developer situation and if there is an alternative way out of the ordinary publisher-developer business relation. This issue is thus aimed to give the numerous developers something to consider and also to give the investor an insight of an alternative evolution for the publishers.

The issue is full of very valuable tips on how even the smallest developers can end up publishing their game and making a profit. Here is an interesting quote:

"As a first benefit the developer is given a freedom of design. This part is much more important to the motivation than many may think. Game ideas are about creating a fantasy, and should be based on a vision from the developer. A lot of publishers out there often try to get games in genres that are "popular", to take the leap into unknown and untested ideas is risky and who can blame the publisher for hesitating. But the entrepreneur often believes in the project and coupled with the right skills belief can go a long way. "

If you are a developer, this one is for you. Highly recommended and loaded with good tips. - Business News

GA-RPG Weekly Column: RPG Mythology, Issue #16/99 (1:18 pm)
This week Greg Zeschuk, joint-CEO's and co-Executive Producer of BioWare, discusses a very important topic which is so easily ignored by so many: Quality Assurance. After reading this issue, and without sounding like I am trying to "keep on Greg's right side" if you know what I mean, I once again have to state in public: BioWare is one GREAT company. Here is a quote:

"Unfortunately, it is relatively easy to release a game earlier than appropriate , without adequate testing, and then to patch it after fact. I suspect that some companies actually think that this is a valid practice. Why pay for all that testing when you can release your game and let the entire world test it? My most frustrating RPG experience is run up against a key quest that can't be finished and then be required to wait until a patch is made to finish the game."

Check out this week's issue of RPG Mythology right over here. Enjoy! - Gaming News
