Mirroring Information
The master LDP pages are
at http://www.linuxdoc.org/. If
you maintain a LDP mirror, or would like to maintain a LDP mirror,
please email gferg@sgi.com with
the following information:
URL of the mirror. We recommend naming the mirror directory
"LDP". For example, one such mirror is
at http://oss.sgi.com/LDP/.
Name and email address of the person maintaining the mirror.
How frequently the mirror is updated. We recommend mirroring
daily or every other day. Mirroring weekly is less desirable,
but still OK. Anything longer than a week is too long.
Location of the mirror. Please tell us the city,
state (if applicable) and country.
You will need approximately 150MB of disk space. Once we have your mirror
information, you will receive the LDP mirror login and password.
We recommend mirroring using
rsync (preferred) or the
mirror package
(which mirrors using FTP).
Please be aware that you are responsible for the mirroring process itself.
With the number of requests we receive we cannot possibly assist every
single individual/site. If for some reason the status of your mirrored location
changes, please contact gferg@sgi.com
so that this list can remain as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
Thanks.
Outdated / Inaccessible Mirror Sites
Please try to keep your mirror site up-to-date. If the site
becomes outdated or there is a problem accessing it, you will be
contacted. If the problem is not corrected in a timely fashion, you
will be removed from this list. If you have been removed and think
this is in error, please
contact gferg@sgi.com. Explain the
circumstances and list the site (location, maintainer, etc.)
that was removed. You will be promptly added back to the list.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter!
Special Note
PROBLEM:
If you currently use the package 'mirror' or a similar ftp-based
package to mirror the master LDP site (found at metalab.unc.edu,
formerly sunsite.unc.edu), you may encounter the following error:
package=LDP metalab.unc.edu:LDP -> <local_directory>
Failure at end of remote directory () because: timed out
Cannot get remote directory details (LDP)
This is due to a upgrade done to the ftp software on the master
site which *may* cause 'mirror' and other ftp-based mirroring
packages to fail. The upgrade was done for security purposes.
SOLUTION:
We apologize for this inconvenience. Further details can be found at:
http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/packages/ftp-archive/mirror/.
If you are using mirror, a patch has been made available,
which needs to be applied to the file ftp.pl. The patch can
be accessed from: http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/packages/ftp-archive/mirror/ftp.pl_wupatch,
or you can grab a fully-patched ftp.pl (for mirror 2.9) here:
http://metalab.unc.edu/gferg/patch/ftp.pl.gz
