Apple Computer	Desktop models: Power Mac G4 400 MHz (Read this first! G4 docs.) 450 and 500 MHz models currently cannot boot Linux. iMac: Revisions A-D iMacs boot normally. The new 1999 iMacs currently cannot boot Linux. Blue & White Power Mac G3 Power Mac G3 desktop, minitower, All-in-One Power Mac 9600, 9500, 8600, 8500, 8200, 7600, 7500, 7300, 7200, 6500, 6400, 6360, 5500, 5400, 4400 Performa 6360, 64xx, 65xx 20th Anniversary Macintosh Workgroup Server 7250, 8550, 9650, G3 PowerBooks: Powerbook 2400c Powerbook 3400c (Modem does not work on the 3400.) Powerbook G3 Powerbook G3 Series 1999 PowerBook G3 (a.k.a. Lombard) Lombards: See this page for instructions on using USB mice. You will also need a a special kernel. Apple Network Server
Be	BeBox: 2.2.1 kernel is near booting, but the page hasn't been updated since 5/29/99.

Amiga	LinuxPPC can run on APUS PowerPC-upgraded Amigas!

Apple computers that can run MkLinux, but not LinuxPPC:

Power Macintosh 6100, 7100, 8100;
Performa 611x series;
WGS 6150, 8150, 9150;
Power Computing Power 100, 120

These computers will not run LinuxPPC, but can use MkLinux, a special version of Linux that was built for these machines. MkLinux is included on the LinuxPPC CD-ROM.

The PowerBook 1400, 2300, and 5300: For notes on making the 1400 run MkLinux, please see the FAQ-O-Matic entry on the subject. Scroll down for the 1400 info. These powerBooks cannot run LinuxPPC.

Machines that don't run LinuxPPC orMkLinux:

- Any Performa 52xx, 53xx, 62xx, or 63xx. These machines have proprietary Apple architectures that we have been unable to make bootable under Linux.

The 6360 is the only exception -- it can run LinuxPPC.

It is highly unlikely that LinuxPPC will run on any of these machines. If older machines become supported, we will announce it on this site.

- 68020, 030, 040-based Macs: Many machines can run the m68k Linux port. The Linux/m68k Project is working on Linux for 680x0-based Macs.
