development group consists of several long-time Python

Guido van Rossum,
Director of PythonLabs
Guido is Python's creator and has headed Python's development for
the last ten years. The Python community refers to him as the "Benevolent
Dictator For Life" (BDFL). Guido expects to remain in this position
for at least another ten years. He is not worried about getting hit
by a bus. |

Tim Peters
Tim has been an influential voice in the Python community since 1991,
and is the original author of the Python mode for Emacs.
His areas of expertise include
compiler technology, floating point arithmetic, and
channeling Guido. |

Barry Warsaw
Barry is the lead maintainer for several Python projects, including
JPython, a Python
implementation in 100% pure Java that translates
Python source code to Java bytecode, and Mailman, the GNU mailing
list manager. Barry has also written many popular Emacs Lisp packages,
including CC Mode and Supercite, and currently maintains the Python
mode. |

Fred Drake
Fred is best known as Python's Documentation Tzar. He has been contributing
to Python for five years and is the author of several modules in the
standard library. Fred's been pushing Guido to convert the documentation
to SGML for all of those five years, and took over the documentation
so he wouldn't have to wait for Guido to do the job. |

Jeremy
Hylton
Jeremy has been a Python developer since
1996, and has made many useful contributions to the Python
core. His areas of interest include networking and Internet
performance and security. Jeremy is the author of Pisces, a
SPKI library for Python. He was program chair of the 6th
and 7th Python conferences.
