Quake 3 Arena is Gold! [ 41 Comments ] Redwood @
Kenneth Scott let me know that he updated his .plan (I'd have him added to the trackers but I'm not at home) for the first time. In it he informs us that Quake 3 Arena has gone gold (to manufacturing). No word on how soon it will be in stores but I'd imagine about a week.
We're Gold! I love you sweetpeach. :)
Exciting eh? :)

Quake 3 Powerup Shots [ 3 Comments ] Redwood @
The Q3 powerups are all in the demo even if they aren't in the levels. For some reason the Flight powerup is in there even though it is used nowhere in the full Quake 3 Arena. This is for mod maker use like the grapple I guess. Check out the powerup screenshots that sCary posted.
A3D 3.0 Available? [ 6 Comments ] Redwood @
I noticed on VE that one of their readers sent in a tidbit that there is a beta A3D 3.0 DLL in the Messiah demo directory. If you have a Vortex2-based audio card then it should improve A3D sound and reportedly improves Quake 3 3D audio quality. The file name is A3DAPI.DLL and use try that at your own risk. I haven't tried it yet personally.

The Quake Workshop 3 has opened and will contain information and tutorials on all level editing aspects of Quake 3 once the game is released. This is brought to you by the same folks from Quake Workshop 2.
Q3 Tier Render Stills [ 3 Comments ] Redwood @
Blue's has a couple of Quake 3 Rendered Images that Paul Steed sent that are from before Tier 2 and Tier3 in the game. Between each tier is a cinematic that shows each one of the characters you'll face and says their names and then shows you the whole lot together.
