Public v2.3 Beta 15 Released! January 6, 2000 at 11:51PM

I thought I'd ring in the new year in style... with a new version of Qtracker, of course!

I'm getting so close to a non-Beta release I can taste it... Yum!

This version finally finishes my skin format, so you can get to work on making skins! To get you in the mood, this version includes a brand-new, kick-butt PlayerWatch skin.

You'll also find: Re-Volt support, tons of new server listings, a skin browser, an Opposing Force filter, a Skin/Filter auto-installer, bug fixes, and a bunch of enhancements... Need I say more? Here's the complete rundown of what's new in this Beta.

LAN action
Our next LAN party is full baaaabieeee! We'll have 55+ people fragging the day and night away... We're also going to be testing a new Qtracker feature... One I think everyone will be excited about...

Public v2.3 Beta 14 Released! December 18, 1999 at 6:30PM

Yup, yup! Just in time for Christmas, a new public Beta is being released.

This new version updates my Quake III Arena support to handle the Retail version. You'll now be able to find hundreds upon hundreds of servers to play on.

I completely re-wrote the filter system to be plug-in and plain-text based. It's much faster and really easy to organize. You can put your filters into folders to organize them any way you want, and best of all... Filters can be downloaded as separate files.

Here's the complete rundown of what's new in this Beta.

Mapshots Updated
The Quake III Arena mapshots have been updated to include all the Retail levels.

LAN action
The LAN Party! section is pretty much done. Our next LAN Party is scheduled for January 15, 2000. We're going to have a tournament with prizes this time!

NBC Footage is Here! December 3, 1999 at 9:21AM

Awww yeah! NBC aired the story on our LAN party twice!

I was surpised to see myself so much in the story... I'm the guy screaming a lot and commenting on "bonding". :)

So, if you'd like to put a face to the programmer, head on over to the LAN Party! page and check it out!

Public v2.3 Beta 13 Released! November 26, 1999 at 8:06PM

Somebody stop ma!!! Qtracker's moving right along nowadays... This version adds support for Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, and Drakan: Order of the Flame. You'll also find lots of little fixes and improvements... Yup, we're almost out of Beta, kids!

Here's the complete rundown of what's new in this Beta.

Mapshots Updated
The Quake III Arena mapshots have been updated to include Q3DemoTest.

Name change?
Qtracker's name is changing... If you have any suggestions for Qtracker's new name, send them my way.

Looking for a webmaster
Yup, you read that right. I'm way too busy coding these days to work on this web page. There's lots of work to be done here, so if you'd like to give it a shot drop me a line.

LAN action
If you missed the LAN action here in Ohio, sorry about your luck! Ha! NBC was there! I'll add a section to this site shortly with photos and upcoming event information, so you can see what you missed out on. The next one is scheduled for mid-January.

Qtracker is now FREE September 28, 1999 at 5:24PM

Yes, you read that right! Qtracker is FREE once again!

Ignore the ShareWare notice for the time being, I'll remove it from the next release.

I'm following the example set by other programs, which is to have a FREE and a Registered version. Look for more news on this in coming weeks.

Public v2.3 Beta 10 Released! September 26, 1999 at 8:56PM

Oh yes, it's finally here... This release adds Unreal Tournament support and PlayerWatch! What's PlayerWatch, you ask? Add your friends to your PlayerWatch list and Qtracker will notify you whenever it finds them playing on a server.

Not only that, but PlayerWatch supports skins. This version was a bit rushed, so I didn't finish an easy-to-install skin package. Please hold off making your own skins until the next Beta.

Also, at the moment you can only add people to your PlayerWatch list if they're actually playing. The next Beta will allow you to type in a persons name manually. Expect a bunch of other enhancements as well.

Many thanks to the kind folks over at sanctum6 for the new kick-butt sounds they made for Qtracker.

Here's the complete rundown of what's new in this Beta.

Player Watch Skin Specs July 18, 1999 at 1:35PM

*Phew* The Player Watch skin format has solidified enough that you can actually start designing skins for this new feature.

I've created a Player Watch Skin Spec page with all the details for anyone interested in designing a skin for this new feature.

The coolest skin submitted will have the option of becoming the base Qtracker Player Watch skin.

Public v2.3 Beta 9 RELEASED! July 11, 1999 at 1:05AM

Updated: Beta 8 was pulled due to Kingpin connection issues. Beta 9 fixes this problem.

Since Kingpin just came out, I decided it was time for another Beta release before Player Watch is unleashed on the public.

I finally jumped on the auto-update bandwagon, so this release adds auto-update notification. Qtracker will now check for a new version of itself. If yours is older than the current release, Qtracker will offer to download the updated version for you.

This version adds Kingpin, South Park, and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (finalized) support. You'll also find some new server listings, and a few enhancements.

Public v2.3 Beta 7 RELEASED! July 2, 1999 at 8:33PM

Rather than make you wait any longer, I'm releasing a maintenance update. Several bugs have been squished, including SIN support. Shoutcast and Quake III Arena server listings work once again. You'll even find a few enhancements.

Here's the complete rundown of what's new in this BETA.

I pulled Player Watch out of this Beta, but rest assured it will be in the next. Thanks to everyone who responded to my Skinner request. My skin format isn't totally completed yet, hence the holdup on the Player Watch feature.

Um... Just to whet your appetite, here's a little peak of the Player Watch pop-up window...

Qtracker is now being bundled with the new XDream Machines. These are high-end gaming PC's designed for serious gameplay. Be the envy of your block... Go get one, you know you wanna...

Skinner Needed! June 9, 1999 at 9:53PM

Okay, I give!

I'm having a really tough time coming up with some decent skins for the new Player Watch feature, and it's eating into my development time. If you're good at designing skins and would like the chance to have your skin featured as Qtracker's base Player Watch skin, drop me a line.

What's Player Watch, you ask? Living under a rock, eh? ;p It's just a little feature that will notify you if any of your friends are playing on the Internet or your LAN. If they are, you can be notified in a variety of ways so you can hop in and play alongside them. Search criteria is flexible and allows for "fun names".
