| Anderson contemplates directing Duchovny. |

Scully Takes the Helm
Gillian Anderson is set to direct an episode of The X-Files later this season.
January 12, 2000
The lovely and talented Special Agent Dana Scully is about to embark on a new endeavor. No, it's not starring in her own spin-off or (contrary to what you may have heard) replacing Jodie Foster in the sequel to Silence of the Lambs.
No, it seems that Gillian Anderson is set to do what co-star David Duchovny has already done: direct. The About.com X-Files site reports that Ten Thirteen Productions has tagged Anderson to direct an episode of the show this season, which will most likely be the series' last. Fans will remember that Duchovny helmed last season's "The Unnatural" (aliens play baseball, blah blah blah).
No details are available as to what kind of episode Anderson will be directing, but we'd like to bet she'll put herself in as few scenes with Duchovny (the two are rumored to have a rather frosty relationship) as possible.
In the meantime, don't expect to see Anderson popping up as another FBI agent in the upcoming Hannibal. Though a poll in Entertainment Weekly pegged her as the favorite to take over Jodie Foster's Clarice Starling role, the About.com site says that it's all rumors and wishful thinking. Sorry, folks.
What kind of episode should Anderson direct? Spooky, creature-of-the-week? An all-Scully extravaganza? Ask a question about this story or send us your opinion on it, and be sure to check in later for the responses!
