Fox's Night Terrors Tells Spooky Stories

New anthology series aims to be the next Twilight Zone.

March 9, 2000

Maybe Fox is finally coming to terms with the fact that The X-Files probably isn't coming back next season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television is producing an anthology horror series for the network called Night Terrors. The show is "in the tradition of The Twilight Zone," according to creators and executive producers Dan Angel and Billy Brown (Animorphs, The X-Files, Goosebumps).

As with The Twilight Zone, each episode will feature a different cast. The first episode will star Aidan Quinn (In Dreams, Practical Magic) as a transportation official investigating a plane crash. His character begins to question his sanity when he finds William Shatner and some freaky creature lurking under the wing and...just kidding! Actually, things get nutty when he begins to learn more about the people who were onboard, and begins to suspect that he was a passenger on the fatal flight.

The goal of the show will be to get some hot shot movie star for every episode. Sounds like it has some potential -- maybe it will fill the void in our hearts when X-Files takes it leaves of us.

Do you honestly feel anime can ever go mainstream, or is its cultish nature set in stone? Give us your two cents on it, and be sure to check in later for the responses! Got a question? Ask the Bug-Eyed Monster and read its answers here.
