Today in N-Query: Rage Wars, Tony Hawk, Dolphin, Jet Force Gemini and light gun games.

Wars.

Is rage wars going to live up to its title? I mean it really didn't look that impressive compared to other games. And are the levels going to be unique from each other or just too similar? Thanks.
Fred Ellis

Rage Wars, in my opinion, is much better than Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Acclaim Austin has upped the framerate considerably and the missions are not as bloated as they were in last year's game. When Acclaim first announced Rage Wars I didn't have high hopes for the shooter. I figured it would simply be more Turok 2 deathmatch. However, much has changed -- much has been improved upon -- and the experience is overall hugely better. Between this and Rainbow Six, Nintendo 64 owners are covered.

Hawk.

I just want to know when is Tony Hawk Pro Skater coming out on Nintendo 64?

Early next year, though it isn't being developed by Neversoft. More soon.

Naming Dolphin.

Hello there,
I know that the Dolphin will not be released under that name. Do you have any speculation on any probable release names? Thanks.
Faz

Miyamoto has actually commented that he likes the name Dolphin and wouldn't have any problems with that being the final name of the system. Still, I doubt it'll be called that. I've got no idea what Nintendo will shoot for though.

Support.

Hey, what's up Matt. I just got done reading the report on Nintendo's Space World convention of next year and a very important question popped into my head. Why the hell is Nintendo waiting that late to show off the Dolphin when they need more 3rd party support. Wouldn't it be more logical to show off what the system can do early on so it might convince more 3rd party developers to jump onboard so the system can have more release tittles? Please answer this, the people must know. One more thing, you guys have connections to Nintendo. So can you please do the fans a favor and try to convince Nintendo to show off the Dolphin earlier so we can have a better chance of release sales?
the penguin

Trust me, Nintendo is actively seeking out third-party support even as you read this. The company knows exactly what it did wrong with Nintendo 64 -- especially in terms of lacking RAM and sound support -- and has worked feverishly to correct these problems. I will guarantee you that Dolphin, at least from a hardware standpoint, is going to be significantly more appealing to develop for than PlayStation 2. It's going to have a lot more RAM to boot, which is something PS2 developers are complaining about already. Nintendo has its core group of solid software houses designing multiple Dolphin projects each already, and third-party support will follow regardless of when the company makes all of the hardware details known.

Guns.

Does Nintendo have any plans to issue light gun based games for the N64? Thanx.
David Shaw

Nope.

Fuel.

I keep running on to these gizmos but I can't seem to make them do anything. I've read and searched the net etc. but no specifics on how to activate the pads. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Those are jetpack fuel pads. They only serve a purpose for powered up characters. Once you've beaten Mizar the first time through, you'll notice that your Jet Force Gemini team becomes equipped with jetpacks. Only then do the pads work to fuel up the jetpacks so that players can fly briefly.
