Today in N-Query: The game that didn't survive, DK64 workings, Dolphin technology, delays and MP3 music.

Surviving.

When and why was Survivor: Day One cancelled? It would sell so much!
Ramiro Corbetta

Konami canned Survivor awhile ago after coming to its senses. Having played the game, I can tell you that the company made the right choice. It was not coming together.

Too repetitive?

I read in one of your DK64 previews that in order to finish the game all 5 characters must complete every level. Then in your November games list you stated that it takes 80 hours to beat DK64. Is it me or does that sound a little repetitive just like Jet Force Gemini. I found JFG to be a little boring going back to levels with all 3 characters. Will Rare and DK64 follow in Jet Forces footsteps and make the same mistake? If so then im staying away from DK64.

Donkey Kong 64 will employ a similar routine, yes, which is a major reason why the game is so damn gargantuan. I've not played through the title yet and I couldn't even begin to venture how large it really is, but I'm guessing that it would be an enormous adventure even if the revisiting of levels was removed.

Micron.

Hey Matt. A question:
Do you know if the Dolphin will use 0.13 or 0.18 micron technology in it's graphics chip? I heard that it might on Nintendojo, they didn't actually say it, just speculated because of a certain press release a while back. Thanks.
Nikolai -- bahamut989@hotmail.com

That was a misprint in a press release that was erroneously reported by some media. Dolphin will use 0.18 micron technology.

Driving into 2000.

Do you know if Test Drive Rally is going to come out this year, or be delayed with every other N64 game?

Test Drive Rally is scheduled for release early next year.

Stadium.

Man... as Christmas draws closer, I keep hoping that Pokemon Stadium will pop up on the release list as the Christmas N64 savior. (No religious meaning there.) But do you think the Big N still might pop it out on us?
Bryan G. (Tyais)

A few months ago I would have said yes. As time slips by, though, I don't think Pokemon Stadium will hit the US for the holidays after all. It seems the game is more likely to arrive early 2000.

MP3.

Matt, where can we go to get some more of that mp3 videogame music? Thanx a lot. Take it easy.
Brian Wright

We'll have more MP3 music of N64 and Dolphin videogames in the not too distant future. So long as developers/publishers approve it, that is.

Beetles.

Hey Matt,
What are the chances that we'll see a sequel to Beetle Adventure Racing?
Derek Mussleman

I'd say very good. Perhaps we'll know more in a few months.
